So...
When the cell phone rang I jumped up and closed the door to my office figuring it would be the doctor. Female voice answered instead. Huh??
It was the doctor's OFFICE, saying "Dr. J. would like to make an appointment with you to discuss your results." Uh-uh people. Not after what you've put me through since Friday. I told all of this to the girl, who was the unfortunate messenger getting figuratively shot. She apologized for the nurse and said she shouldn't have promised a call. She apologized for the doctor. She scheduled my appointment (12/20, 4:30 pm, bring hubby). And then she told me what the notes said.
Good count, low motility. Dr. Google seems to indicate that this *could* be from the length of time it took to transport the sample to the lab (he cut it just under the wire) or *could* be due to not having... ummm... cleaned the pipes prior to the normal abstaining. (God, he would kill me if he knew I were writing this....)
At least that's what I'm hanging on to - hope that it's not necessarily a done deal. I now plan to go over to Mel's place and do some further reading in Operation Heads Up...

I'm glad they told you the basic results over the phone. I wonder if you should do another sample with the proper, ummmm.... abstaining beforehand and try to get it there faster and see if that helps? I hope your appointment gives you more info.
Oh, Lisa, what a mind-fuck. I'm sorry about that. They should never have dealt with it like this -- under the circumstances they should simply have asked for a re-test to control for the two factors you mentioned. I'm glad that you stuck up for yourself.
You go girl--be assertive. You deserve answers. I really think that the good count sounds positive. That they'll repeat the SA since they always repeat the SA and they'll possibly get good results all around when those other factors aren't affecting the results.
Also, with motility, even something like IUI can help with that.
I can't believe you have to wait that long. Lots of time for worry and googling, I guess. I hope the mitigating factors caused the low motility. Best of luck...
I'd hold on to that 'good count' bit. What you need to know now is morphology. If that's ok or average, you're golden, particularly with IVF.
